Estate Groundskeeper
Near Epsom, Surrey
Salary: c. £30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
One of our private clients requires an experienced and dedicated Estate Groundskeeper to join the team at a substantial private country estate in Surrey.
This is a newly created position, arising from the continued growth and increasing complexity of the estate, and represents an excellent opportunity for a candidate seeking to develop a long-term career within a high-calibre private estate environment. The successful candidate will work alongside an established estate team, supporting day-to-day operations and contributing to a varied and ambitious programme of ongoing improvement projects.
The Role
The Estate Groundskeeper will work under the direction of the Estate Manager and will play a central role in ensuring the smooth operational running of the property. The estate extends to approximately 100 acres and encompasses extensive landscaped grounds, parkland, ponds, stable facilities, swimming pools, irrigation systems, and a tennis court, with further significant development and renovation projects currently underway or in planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the day-to-day operational management of a large private country estate
- Monitoring and supporting ongoing renovation, construction, and landscaping projects
- Liaising with contractors and specialist suppliers, following up on outstanding actions and ensuring deadlines are met
- Coordinating across multiple departments including grounds, stabling, housekeeping, and security
- Maintaining exceptionally high presentation standards across all areas of the estate
- Assisting with landscaping and grounds-related planning and implementation
- Supporting operational planning during periods of principal residence
- Reporting progress clearly and consistently to the Estate Manager and principal
Candidate Profile - Previous experience working within a private estate, country house, or UHNW household is essential
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, pond management, swimming pool maintenance, or external infrastructure would be a distinct advantage
- Exceptionally organised, proactive, and calm under pressure
- Practical and hands-on, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- An outstanding communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage across all levels of a busy estate team
- Fluent English
- Full UK driving licence
- Professional, discreet, and highly reliable, with a natural inclination to follow through on every task
- Comfortable working within a dynamic environment where standards and expectations are consistently high
Working Pattern Monday to Friday, with flexibility occasionally required in line with estate activities and principal residence. Hours will reflect standard seasonal estate working patterns.
