Job Type: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, Live-out
Salary: c. £35-39k depending on experience
 
Overview:
 
We are seeking a skilled Groundskeeper to join a private estate team. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative, team-focused approach. The successful candidate will work closely with the estate owner, other Groundskeepers and wider estate team to maintain and enhance the estate.
 
Responsibilities:

• Maintain and nurture the produce garden and orchard, ensuring healthy growth of vegetables and fruits.
• Maintain and nurture the cutting garden, ensuring healthy growth of flowers and vegetation.
• Maintain lawns and gardens using mowers, strimmers, and other landscaping equipment.
• Support and liaise with external contractors alongside the Groundskeeper to coordinate works effectively.
• Share responsibility for the upkeep of all estate landscape areas including mature woodlands, lawns, fields, ponds, and a developing wildflower meadow.
• Carry out soil health tasks including mulching, composting, and fertilisation.
• Undertake seasonal gardening duties such as weed control work, pruning, trimming, planting, and leaf clearance.
• Maintain paths, driveways, and hard landscaping to ensure safety and aesthetic appeal.
• Communicate clearly with the wider estate team to prioritise tasks and ensure efficient workflow.
• Task and manage outside contractors for things like arboriculture and fencing

• Proven groundskeeping or horticultural experience within a private estate.
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively day-to-day.
• Ability to take direction, share updates, and coordinate effectively with Principals, colleagues, and contractors via Whatsapp and in person .
• Good understanding of landscape maintenance and general ecology.
• Physically capable of carrying out demanding outdoor work in all seasons.
• Proficient in the use of landscaping machinery and hand tools.
• Valid UK driving licence and reliable transportation.

• Experience working with vegetable gardens, orchards, and/or cut flower gardens
• Knowledge or practical experience in establishing or maintaining wildflower meadows
• Horticulture or landscape management qualifications including spraying licences, chainsaw certificates
• Broader understanding of regenerative or sustainable land management practices
