Salary: c. £50,000 - £70,000 depending on experience

One of our private clients requires an experienced and hands-on Head Housekeeper to support a high-net-worth family with the management and upkeep of their homes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, experienced housekeeping professional to take a senior, multi-property role within a busy and well-run household.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the family's main residence and overseeing the housekeeping team at a second property, requiring exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills. Prior experience working for high-net-worth individuals and a thorough understanding of how private households operate are essential. The role involves working alongside and overseeing the wider housekeeping team, liaising closely with the family's property manager to stay abreast of schedules and travel plans, and ensuring sufficient cover across both properties at all times.

Working Monday to Friday on an early or late shift basis, with flexibility to cover occasional weekend days, the role also requires a confident driver with their own reliable transport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with the principals and management team to stay abreast of the family's schedule
  • Overseeing and working alongside the housekeeping team across both properties
  • Hands-on housekeeping, including cleaning, laundry, ironing, and wardrobe management
  • Managing household expenses and petty cash, and liaising with service providers and contractors
  • Buying and preparing groceries for both properties
  • Basic flower arranging for small displays
  • Ad-hoc errand running
  • Answering the door to visitors and receiving parcels
  • Liaising with gardeners and florists regarding access times
  • Laying and clearing the table, serving lunch and dinner, and liaising with the chef, including managing the chef rota and agreeing menus
Candidate Profile
  • At least four years' experience in a similar role, with high-level housekeeping and laundry management experience in a high-end private household
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Experience in training and managing household staff
  • Brilliant interpersonal skills and fluent English
  • Professional, hardworking, and trustworthy
  • Discreet, reliable, and proactive, with the ability to adapt and work at a fast pace
  • Flexible and willing to travel between properties
  • Excellent knowledge of London
  • Confident driver with a full, clean licence and own reliable transport
  • Excellent checkable references
  • Willing to work flexibly outside of standard hours and respond to urgent messages when required
We appreciate your interest in this role. Please note, due to the high volume of CVs we receive, we are unable to respond to every application.
